- main role: ‘spokespersons” for each Political Group
- allocate tasks among members of their Group, chooses the rapporteur (when the report was allocated to that Group)
- act as “whips”, maximize the Group’s presence at key votes
- establish the Group’s voting line and speakers’ list for the Plenary
- all the Group coordinators meet to share rapporteurship and to discuss the agenda before Committee meetings
