Online Participation of Citizens in EP Committee activities
Pilot Project EP-07-01-012
Call 2007/01
The eCommittee Pilot Project aims to find innovative ways for EU citizens to get more involved with the making of legislation at the European Parliament level. Ourclimate.eu is a network of EU citizens, NGOs and businesses interested in the eParticipation in the Climate Change debate and decision-making process at the European Parliament, and especially in the work of the ENVI (Environment) Committee and CLIM (Climate Change) Temporary Committee. The project is targeting the European Parliament’s Environment Committee (ENVI) and the Temporary Committee on Climate Change (CLIM) as it relates to Climate Change policies and will provide on-line participation of individual citizens as well as interest groups and stakeholders. Project outreach
The eCommittee Pilot Project aims to provide a platform for EU citizens to get more involved with the making of European legislation through online discussions and representations of Members Parliament. Overall the Project will run for up to 24 months in ten pilot countries:Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, The Netherlands, Portugal, Slovenia, Sweden and the United Kingdom. Your registration and participation in the ourclimate.eu network is free and open. You do not have to be a citizen of these countries to join us. We recommed that you join the country according to your language preference.
Climate change is an issue that affects everyone. Governments, NGOs and governments and industry are taking measures to fight it, but we as individuals can also make a difference. Under a grant from the European Commission a consortium has been formed to launch an eParticipation Project bearing the name of eCommittee starting in January 2008 which received the support of Members of the European Parliament. Information about how you view climate change, your value judgements and your attitude toward climate risks can yield important insights for policy makers so that the legislation better reflects people's expectations and opinion.
If climate change is an important issue to you, to your family and/or to your organization, please register with us.
