What should be the role of developing countries in a new post-2012 regime?
            - session 6b -

In the run-up to the next international negotiations on a post-2012 regime, three MEPs who are members of the ENVI Committee were asked to give their views. The focus was on the role that developing countries should play in the 'after Kyoto' regime. Members of the European Parliament sent out strong messages of hope and called for actions to the European citizens to increase the pressure on European policians to stay ambitious.

Effort Sharing
         - session 4 -

The ENVI Committee has voted on the Revision of the Effort Sharing Decision as part of the Climate and Energy Package.  European Heads of State will nail down the final text in the Council Meeting of 11-12 December 2008.

European Union Emissions Trading Scheme
            - session 3 -

THe Review of the EU ETS Directive has been discussed within the ENVI Committee, and been voted upon by a large majority of MEPs. As part of the European Climate and Energy Package, the new EU ETS is suspected to be agreed upon by Heads of States on 11-12 December 2008.
